Trump Establishes National Energy Dominance Council To Boost U.S. Oil And Gas Production

Leave a message

President Donald Trump has established a new White House council to advance U.S. "energy dominance" with a prompt push forward. The National Energy Dominance Council will be led by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and vice-chaired by Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The council is intended to streamline federal energy policy and accelerate permitting, production, and delivery of oil, gas, electricity, and other resources.

As he signed the executive order in the Oval Office, Trump referred to the country's rich energy resources as "liquid gold under our feet" and promised to leverage the resources to propel the economy and geopolitical influence forward. The administration has already initiated sweeping changes in energy policy, and major players are drawing up plans to expand oil and gas production and infrastructure.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy made a public declaration about GulfLink Deepwater Port project, intending to facilitate the exportation of U.S. crude oil. Energy Secretary Wright announced conditional approval of liquefied natural gas transportation from one of the plants in Louisiana. Trump also wants to sit with governors to move a stalled pipeline project for Northeast gas project.

The government views home energy production as an important part of economic growth and a way to maintain competitiveness in global artificial intelligence innovation. Trump has always argued for more oil and gas production, tying it to less expensive consumer prices and offsetting potential cost increases from new tariffs on foreign imports. The council's activities are also seen as complementary to longer-term tax reductions, aimed at keeping the economy moving amidst shifting trade policies.
