Product Introduction

The Cast Iron Bridge Plug is a high-pressure downhole tool specifically crafted to isolate sections of oil and gas wells with superior dependability. Made from high-quality drillable cast iron, it can be easily set using pipe, coil tubing, or conventional wireline pressure setting tools, and drilled out when necessary without compromising operational safety or efficiency. Its compact design and robust construction allow it to withstand extreme downhole conditions, including high pressure differentials and elevated temperatures, making it a trusted solution for both permanent and temporary well isolation needs.

Whether you're performing well abandonment, zonal isolation for stimulation treatments, or casing pressure tests, our Cast Iron Bridge Plug provides a tight, reliable seal that protects well zones and ensures smooth operation throughout your project lifecycle.

Product Features

1.Drillable Cast Iron Construction : Crafted from high-grade cast iron, the plug is easy to drill out when wellbore access is needed, reducing drill-out time and lowering operational costs. The material maintains sufficient strength during setting while enabling efficient removal when required.

2.Exceptional Pressure & Temperature Resistance : Available in 5K and 10K versions, the plug supports pressure ratings up to 10,000 psi and temperature ratings up to 400°F (204.44°C), ensuring stable performance in harsh downhole environments.

3.Secure Setting & Anchoring : Equipped with one-piece heat-treated full-circle slips (or double slip design) and rubber packing elements with backup rings, the plug ensures secure anchoring in casing and eliminates element extrusion at high pressure and temperature. Pined cones prevent presetting, ensuring accurate placement every time.

4.Versatile Compatibility : Suitable for tubing and casing sizes ranging from 4" to 20" (or 2 3/8" to 20"), and compatible with casing grades up to P-110 (with custom slips available for Q-125 grades). It can be set using wireline, pipe, or coil tubing tools, including Baker and GO setting equipment.

5.API Compliance & Test Validation : Complies with API 11D1 specifications and undergoes rigorous test validation (grades V3 to V6) to ensure consistent performance and reliability in real-world applications.

6.Cost-Efficient Design : Compact length reduces drill-out time, while the durable construction minimizes tool replacement costs. Top vent design equalizes pressure during drill-out before slips are released, further enhancing operational efficiency.

Working Principle

The Cast Iron Bridge Plug is run downhole using wireline, pipe, or coil tubing, and set in the desired casing position using a pressure setting tool. The opposing slips (located above and below the rubber packing elements) anchor the plug securely to the casing wall, while the backup rings prevent elastomer extrusion under high pressure and temperature. A ratcheting lock ring maintains the setting force, ensuring a permanent seal until drill-out is required.
To remove the plug and restore wellbore access, thru-tubing fishing equipment (mills and motors) or coiled tubing is used to drill out the cast iron body. The top vent design equalizes pressure during drill-out, preventing sudden pressure release and ensuring safe removal without pipe rotation.

Quality Assurance

We are committed to delivering high-quality products that meet the demanding requirements of the oil and gas industry. Our Cast Iron Bridge Plug undergoes comprehensive quality control checks throughout the manufacturing process, including material inspection, dimensional testing, pressure and temperature testing, and drill-out performance validation. Each unit is accompanied by a detailed test report, ensuring transparency and confidence in product performance.

Application Scenarios

- Well Abandonment : Permanently seals spent wells when no more fuel can be extracted, ensuring environmental safety and compliance.

- Zonal Isolation : Isolates lower well zones from upper zones during stimulation, fracturing, or cementing operations, allowing targeted treatment of individual zones without cross-contamination.

- Fracturing & Stimulation : Withstands treating pressures up to 10,000 psi above the plug, enabling safe and efficient fracturing of multiple well zones sequentially.

- Casing Pressure Tests : Provides a tight seal for casing pressure testing, ensuring the integrity of well casings before further operations.

- Squeeze Cementing : Supports squeeze cementing operations by isolating target zones, ensuring effective cement placement and wellbore integrity.

FAQ

Q: Is your cast iron bridge plug API certified?
A: Yes, all our cast iron bridge plugs are API 11D1 and ISO 14310 V3 certified, and also pass ISO 9001 quality system certification, ensuring that the products meet international oilfield operation standards.

Q: Can the cast iron bridge plug be reused?
A: No, the cast iron bridge plug is designed for one-time use. It can be removed by drilling out after use, but the drill-out process will damage its structure, so it cannot be reused. If you need a reusable isolation tool, we can recommend our retrievable bridge plug.

Q: What is the delivery time for customized products?
A: For customized products (such as special casing size, material or pressure rating), the delivery time is 20-30 days, depending on the complexity of the customization. We will confirm the specific delivery time with you before placing the order.

Q: Do you provide samples?
A: Yes, we provide free samples for standard models (1-2 pieces), but the customer needs to bear the shipping cost. For customized samples, we will quote the sample fee and shipping cost according to the customization requirements.

Q: How to solve the problem if the product has quality problems?
A: We provide a 1-year quality guarantee. If there is any quality problem within the guarantee period, please send us the product photos and problem description, and we will provide free replacement or refund within 3 working days. Our technical team will also provide guidance to avoid similar problems in the future.

Q: What setting methods does your cast iron bridge plug support?
A: Our cast iron bridge plug supports wireline setting, drill pipe setting and coiled tubing setting, with mechanical and hydraulic options available, which can be selected according to your actual operation needs.
