Kongsberg Digital inked a strategic collaboration agreement with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) for the supply of an enterprise-level AI-based digital twin. It marks a milestone in value creation through cooperation and industrial know-how.
PDO selected Kongsberg Digital's Industrial Work Surface offering Kognitwin® as part of its vision to be safer, higher in production levels and having a competitive cost base. With artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, Kognitwin® consolidates and contextualizes operational (OT) and enterprise (IT) data to bridge end-to-end workflows across operations and maintenance.
With a target to roll out all the digital twins this year, the partnership will capitalize on Kongsberg Digital's proven track record of ramping up industrial software rapidly across complicated assets and PDO's wider business expertise to drive the delivery of industrial smarts by end-to-end working processes.
"Co-innovation and collaboration sit at the heart of this partnership," comments Shane McArdle, CEO at Kongsberg Digital. "PDO is leading the way in how it's investing in industrial intelligence that perfectly fits with their operating agendas. We're genuinely delighted to have a partner who has the same vision and tempo, equalling our ambition to be the platform for rewiring work performance in this market."
The joint venture is also Kongsberg Digital's strategic expansion in the Middle East, where other leading regional operators already have existing partnerships with the company. From its demonstrated partnership experience with world-leading international industry operators such as Shell, Chevron, and other energy majors, Kongsberg Digital will be centrally positioned to address the growing demand for digitalization in the region.
"The need for safer operations, increased production, and cost-effective structures is more critical than ever before in the oil and gas sector today," said AI and Digital Transformation Task Force Lead, PDO, Ahmed Al Abri. "With the collaboration of Kongsberg Digital, we are confident to meet these challenges and move towards new working methods spurred by AI and industrial intelligence."
