Baker Hughes said that it has been awarded a major order from Turkish Petroleum (TPAO) and the Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center (TP-OTC) to supply subsea production and smart completion systems for Phase 3 of Sakarya Gas Field, the cornerstone of Turkiye's Black Sea energy strategy.
Baker Hughes will provide the deepwater horizontal tree systems, subsea structure, and advanced control systems under the contract to enable gas production from 6,500 ft through 7,200 ft depth. The company's intelligent upper and lower completions technology will provide multizonal subsurface control that optimizes the efficiency and reliability of production.
The development of the Sakarya Gas Field has transformed Turkiye's energy sector into a more prosperous, secure future for the country," said Amerino Gatti, executive vice president, Oilfield Services & Equipment, Baker Hughes. "Through the combination of subsea and completions technology with operating expertise and subsurface knowledge, we are working with TPAO and TP-OTC to unlock hydrocarbons that will power Turkiye for generations to come.".
Baker Hughes has also been a partner on the 2022 Sakarya project. The company's GaffneyCline energy advisory practice has provided reservoir and technology evaluations, while its lower completions solutions have helped to optimize production from Black Sea thin-layered reservoirs.
Under Phase 3, Baker Hughes will integrate its completions technologies like InForce™ HCM™-A interval control valves, SureTREAT™ chemical injection valves, SureSENS™ QPT ELITE gauges, REACH™ subsurface safety valves, and the SC-XP™ Select Zero Loss stack-pack system with subsea production infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency.
Shipments for Sakarya Phase 3 are expected to begin in late 2025.
