Baker Hughes has received a multi-year contract from Petrobras to continue utilizing the Blue Marlin and Blue Orca stimulation vessels to increase production in Brazil's offshore pre- and post-salt fields.
Awarded via open tender, the contract also covers the supply of chemicals supply and services, highlighting Baker Hughes' Mature Assets Solutions philosophy in assisting to maximize brownfield recovery and field life.
Blue Marlin and Blue Orca deliver upper-level well stimulation treatments, including gravel pack and frac pack operations, and support well construction. The two ships feature onboard laboratories, high-pressure pumping capacity, and chemical storage capacity that enable multiple operations without returning to port - reducing downtime and enhancing efficiency.
These vessels have decades of history in Brazil, and their unmatched experience has helped Petrobras transform its pre-salt fields into some of the world's most prolific," said Amerino Gatti, EVP Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes.
Baker Hughes noted that the majority of the chemicals the ships use will be sourced locally, in alignment with Brazil's supply chain and localization strategy. The two ships have collectively logged more than 650 perfect HSE days through Sept. 1, for which Petrobras has been recognized for safety and operations excellence.
