A contract has been awarded to TechnipFMC by BP for the 20,000-psi Tiber development project in the Gulf of America Paleogene. This marks the addition of another project to the list of subsea contractor extensions.
The award follows the engineering and equipment already under way for bp's first 20K Paleogene project at Kaskida, which was awarded as an integrated development contract to TechnipFMC in 2024. Tiber is the second significant high-pressure project that bp has progressed in the pre-salt play in the Gulf and will employ the same execution strategy as the Kaskida project.
According to Jonathan Landes, "president subsea, TechnipFMC," the strategy involves "continuity of work in the existing basin." "This strategy is built as much on cooperation as innovation, and the award of Tiber is a reflection of bp's desire to continue high pressure development in the basin using the integrated iEPCI model," he added.
The contract value, according to TechnipFMC, ranges from $600 million to $800 million, and it is a part of inbound orders posted in Q4 of 2025. The firms pointed out that "the plans for completion and timelines for installation, as well as equipment procurement currently under way in Trinidad, will be harmonized."
The Tiber award is a reflection of ongoing interest in ultra-deepwater high-pressure reservoirs in Paleogene strata, where integrated contracting is seen to play a crucial role in cost management and long-term gas deliverability in the US Gulf.
